Grand Tetons National Park

One can capture a widescreen view of the Teton mountain ranges from any spot in the national park. It has been one of the most easily accessible national parks in my experience (after visiting 33 national parks prior to this). You can ride a bike, drive, kayak or even take a small walk to get to the most beautiful scenic spots. I was travelling solo at this national park and hence this one holds a special place for me.

Tetons are named as the ‘mountains of imaginations’ and it holds true as it will definitely bring you close to the mountain life one would imagine.

From Glacier National Park, on my way to Yellowstone, I decided to spend one night and a day at Grand Teton National Park. I drove via a scenic Teton pass and here are some glimpses.

Most of the tourists prefer to make a day trip to Grand Teton as it is just 50 mins from Yellowstone’s South Entrance. Since I had some buffer time, I decided to stay overnight and camp at Jenny Lake campground.

There are ample hiking options in the Tetons but I wanted to spend a relaxing time out in nature enjoying the beautiful mountain ranges hence the below highlights are mostly reachable by a drive or a boat.

• Teton Park Scenic Road: Starting the sunrise drive from Jackson Hole towards the Jenny lake, this drive provided one of the best experiences of witnessing the rising sun between the Grand Tetons. There are multiple lookout points on the way to Jenny Lake.

• Jenny Lake: I made reservations for the Tetons scenic boat tour at the Jenny Lake visitor centre. This one hour boat ride was a calm, relaxed way of getting close to the mountain ranges through the lake. You can also reserve online - Jenny Lake Boating. One can also go kayaking on the lake if you have more time.

• Sunset at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort: With some quick bites for dinner at the Jackson Hole Resort, I caught the sun setting behind the Teton ranges.

• Sunrise at Jenny Lake: My overnight stay was at Jenny Lake campground. Capturing a mirror reflection of the gigantic Teton mountain ranges was worth getting up for an early morning sunrise. The tranquility, peace and calmness the lake has; represents how clear we see the reflection.
