A perfect amalgamation of Atlantic ocean, granite rocks, tidal pools and bunch of beautiful trails just an hour ride from Boston located in Rockport. This is a hidden gem of Massachusetts known as 'Halibut Point State Park. It is a great trail for dogs, older family members or even if you are looking for a short walk to an overlook. For driving directions, click here - LINK

The entry to the state park is $5 for MA residents and $20 for non MA residents. The most up-to-date information on the entry fees can be located here - LINK There is parking available for ~70 cars but on a busy weekend, it can get difficult to find a spot and there can be wait times up to 2 hours long so plan an early morning trip if you want to avoid waiting. We were lucky to find one just 0.4 mile away from the state park and decided to walk down the rest.
The 1.6 mile heavily trafficked trail can be divided into 2 major portions
Granite Quarry
Tide Pools

Take a left from the parking lot to find an entry way to the trail. At the entrance you will spot this lovely cove shaped gate with a trail map alongside.

We decided to walk along the quarry for an overlook point and then headed towards the ocean overlook.

After some relaxing time capturing the ocean views and watching the sail boats sway by, we started the trail down to the ocean. The trail consists of partly covered walks and rest is quite open. On a bright sunny day, it is recommended to be prepared with sunscreens, sunglasses and hats.

If you are fond of wildflowers, this place is a must visit to spot some unique collection of North American natives.

Navigating the rocky surface to the tidal pools, listening to the crashing waves with 180 degree gorgeous view of the Atlantic Ocean towards the end of the costal cliff is definitely worth a drive from Boston.
